Remote Waterfront Entertainment During Coronavirus

While we’re all taking the necessary precautions during the Coronavirus outbreak, some of our favorite institutions on the Waterfront have made their exhibits accessible from the comfort of your homes:

National Aquarium Exhibit Livestreams and At-Home Activities:

The National Aquarium may be closed to the public, but their exhibit livestreams are a great way to still experience the Aquarium from home! You can stream live feeds of Blacktip Reef, Pacific Coral Reef and Jellies Invasion every day here.

Entertain the family with other at-home activities including word finds, craft projects, and coloring pages. Activities can be accessed here.

Let’s Science Together with the Maryland Science Center

Check out the Maryland Science Center’s website – it has a huge variety of online Science at Home activities as well as links to educational events they’ll be hosting on their Facebook page. There’s even some fun science for adults!

Port Discovery Children’s Museum

Port Discovery is providing at-home play tips and helpful resources including easy activity ideas, music time, and more via Facebook, Facebook Live performances, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter & regularly scheduled emails. See more on their website

Baltimore City’s Department of Recreation and Parks

BCRP introduced its Virtual Rec Center with activities such as: at-home workouts, art and nature projects, STEM lessons, and outdoor activities like gardening or bird watching.

Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore

DBJCC introduces Virtual-J, virtual programming to help keep you and your family engaged and active during this challenging time. You can event connect with them on WhatsApp as they share ideas, activities, and resources with you for kids in grades K-5. See more activities here.

Need more to do while you are self-distancing? Art with a Heart has pop art for you! Color these images and these images, the send them back to the Art with a Heart office where they will become awesome trash cans! You can continue to support Art with a Heart by shopping HeARTwares, a great place to shop for meaningful gifts, jewelry and housewares made by students in Art with a Heart’s workforce development program, HeARTworks, and by committed volunteers.

Get Active Challenge by Corrigan Sports (organizers of the Baltimore Running Festival)

A NEW CHALLENGE… For Kids! The Get Active Challenge encourages kids to get up & move during this time where they can’t attend their normal gym class and extracurricular activities! This is a FREE program with rewards for those who participate. The challenge encourages kids to log at least 30 minutes of physical activity 10 times within a 2 week period of May. All participants will get a finishers certificate that they can download, and also have the option to get a vintage Baltimore Run Fest medal to commemorate their accomplishment!
